HII NI TANZANIA AU TANI ZA NIA?
Hili ni swali ambalo linasumbua hasa baada ya kuona kwamba Watanzania tumekuwa kama wabeba ‘nia’ zenye uzito wa tani za kubadilika na si Tanzania tena kama nchi iliyojaa neema na yenye kila uzuri.
Uzuri huu ni pamoja na kuwa na utamaduni, mali za asili, vivutio vya utalii na zaidi sana ni nchi iliyojaa sifa ya pekee ya kuwa na amani tele kama ilivyokuwa enzi zile kabla hata ya ujio wa wakoloni.
Enzi za mababu na mabibi zetu waliuthamini sana utamaduni kwa kufuata mila na desturi husika kulinda kila kilichomtambulisha mtanzania popote pale alipopatikana.

Tazama sasa mtanzania wa leo ambavyo amejisahau yeye ni nani na anadiriki hata kudharau kabisa hata mila na desturi zake. Hili linaonekana sana katika maswala mazima ya uchaguzi wa rangi katika maisha ya mtanzania wa kawaida.
Mtanzania amekuwa akijidharaulisha hata uteuzi wa rangi katika mavazi, imekuwa ikizoeleka kuwa mtu akivaa nguo nyeusi utaulizwa ‘una msiba?’ Lakini atakaevaa nguo nyeupe utasikia hee una harusi au unaenda kwenye sherehe?
Hii inatufanya kwanza tudharau hata utaifa wetu kuwa watu wote weusi hawana thamani ila wenye rangi nyeupe ndio wanapata thamani kubwa. Kwahiyo mzungu ni mtu wa kuthaminiwa tena na sisi watanzania wenyewe.
Hivi tunakwenda wapi jamani? Ukiangalia pia majina yetu sisi watanzania yamekuwa ni kitambulisho tosha cha athari za wazungu. Unakuta mwaafrika anaitwa Allen Alex tena anajitapa kabisa kuwa ni mtanzania halisi na hajui kuwa yeye ni mtanzania bandia. Na imekuwa aibu mtu akiitwa majina ya asili kama Kalenga, Kabula na Mazengo,
Haya ndiyo majina ya kujivunia kwani ndicho kitambulisho halisi cha mtanzania. Hivi kwanini tunakubali haya na kukiri udhaifu? Mbona Brazil walitawaliwa lakini majina yao kama Ronaldihno au Kenya watu wanaitwa Obonyo, lakini hatuoni kama wanaona aibu bali huyatumia tena hata nchi za nje wanatambua hilo.
Haya tuache hayo ukiangalia mavazi hapo ndipo tunapopoteza zaidi utanzania wetu. Mtanzania wa leo anakwambia anakwenda na wakati hasa kwa kuvaa mavazi kama ya watu wa nje tena kama wahindi, wanaigeria. Mbona wao hawavai yetu? Hili ni tatizo kubwa kwanini tusiboreshe yetu.
Mbona wahindi wao huvaa ya kwao tena kwa heshima zao wenyewe. Ukitazama wanaigeria ambao wameteka sana akili za Watanzania wao hawavai yetu? Mbona tunapenda kukuza mila na desturi za wenzetu na zetu nani atatukuzia?
Si kweli samaki mmoja akioza ni wote. Ila anaweza akawepo mzima mmoja na akatumika kama kitoweo cha wengi. Limebaki kabila moja tu Tanzania ambalo lilihimili vishindo vya Kasumba hii mbaya na kupingana na muingiliano wa tamaduni na kuziimarisha mila zake.
Kabila hili ni la Wamasai ambap mila zao zimekuwa ni utambulisho mkubwa wa mtanzania kwa wengine. Lakini leo hii wanaitwa washamba ama wachafu. Hivi tutafika kweli?
Pamoja na kwamba wamekuwa hawana thamani hapa Tanzania, wamekuwa kivutio tosha kwa watalii na wamechangia uchumi wa nchi kukua kwa kasi.

Hebu tazama wanavyothaminiwa hawa watu na mataifa ya nje. Kama wao tu wameweza kukuza uchumi ingekuwa vipi kwa Watanzania wote?
Ukifika kwenye swala la chakula ndio hoi kabisa hatufai hata kidogo, watu wanajiuliza mbona watoto wa siku hizi wanakuwa sana. Na tumesahau kama hata asili ya chakula hatunayo tena. Imekuwa ni kasumba mtu akila vyakula vya kutoka nje ya nchi ndio anaonekana ameendelea kuliko mtu yeyote.
Ukifika kwenye swala la chakula ndio hoi kabisa hatufai hata kidogo, watu wanajiuliza mbona watoto wa siku hizi wanakuwa sana. Na tumesahau kama hata asili ya chakula hatunayo tena. Imekuwa ni kasumba mtu akila vyakula vya kutoka nje ya nchi ndio anaonekana ameendelea kuliko mtu yeyote.
Mbaya zaidi hata matunda na juisi tunashindwa kutumia ya asili yetu. Utakuta matunda yameoza mashambani kupita kiasi lakini hakuna wa kuyajali na mtu yuko radhi anunue juisi na mtunda kutoka nje ya nchi, matokeo yake ni kupata magonjwa na matatizo ya kiafya bila hata kujitambua.
Hebu tazama mtanzania mwenzangu tumeiga vyote hatukutosheka sasa siku hizo hadi nyimbo zimebailishwa mahadhi. Tumekuwa hatuthamini tena kile chetu na kuvamia cha wenzetu bila hata ya aibu, Lakini inatia moyo sana pale tunapoona wenzetu kama Saida Kaloli na wengine kidogo wakijaribu kurudisha kile kilichopotea kwa kuimba nyimbo za mahadi ya kiatanzania.
Lakini cha kushangaza tumeshabikia miziki isiyo na mahadhi yetu na kushabikia ya wenzetu. Hivi unajenga kwa wenzio kwako utajenga lini? Na unadhani ukikamilisha nyumba zao na wewe hujaanza mvua ikinyesha atakusaidia nani? Tumekuwa kama pwani ya mabwege tusiojua tunakwenda.
Maendeleo hayawezi kuja kama lugha yetu wenyewe hatuipi thamani, tunajivalisha uzungu wakati ni uongo ambao hakuna hata mmoja atakayeweza kunyanyafua uongo huo. Leo tupo Tanzania na tunatumia lugha yetu ya Kiswahili kama chombo cha mawasiliano, cha kusikitisha sana baadhi ya vyombo vya habari watumia lugha ya kigeni pia " usikose kupata habari ya lugha ya kiingereza ifikapo…". Sasa nani inampasa kuyafanya haya, je huko nchi nyingine wamewahi kutumia lugha yetu hasa kwa maswala ya mawasiliano . Tulipokuwa tunasoma tulifundishwa kuimba nyimbo za Ulaya kuna wangapi kati yetu walifundishwa kuimba nyimbo za Kinyamwezi au Kihehe”. Anasema Hayati Mwalimu J.K. Nyerere.
Kwani kuna umuhimi gani wa kujua lugha ya wenzetu wakati yetu wenyewe inatusumbua na tunaishusha thamani. Eti maendeleo yanaletwa na sisi wenyewe na ii imekuwa ni wimbo. Nadhani hayawezi kuja kama hatutajali lugha yetu. Hivi tumesahau maendeleo yawezi kuja kama mawasiliano yatakuwa mabovu.
Upande wa dada zetu, zamani mambo ya vipodozi hayakuwepo kama sasa. Wazee wetu walitumia vipodozi asilia na walionekana warembo sana kuliko hata sisi. Leo vipodozi vya kutoka nje ya nchi vimeshika chati na vimetumika kwa kiasi kikubwa za kubadili rangi za sura zao.
Hali hii imepelekea dada zetu kupata madhara kuliko hata walivyodhani, wametokwa chunusi, mabaka na baadhi ya magojwa ya ngozi na hii imepoteza kabisa uhalisia wa ngozi zao.
Kwakweli hii tena sio Tanzania kama ilivyoitwa pale lilipobatizwa 26/04/1964 ambavyo lilikuwa taifa lenye kila aina ya sifa ya kuitwa taifa bora. Leo hii tumebaki na uzito wa tani fulani za nia ya kubadili utaifa wetu na kuutupa porini utamaduni kiasi kwamba hakuna hata mmoja katika kizazi kijacho atakayejua wapi tumetupia utamaduni huu.
Kumbukeni mabadiliko hayaji kama mvua bali huja kupitia kwa mtu mmoja mmoja. Siku zote "Mjenga Nchi ni Mwananchi Mwenyewe".

IUCo Don shines at international conference

IUCo has proved its reputation under Tourism Department following the presentation waged by its Assistant Lecturer Mr. Melubo Kokel in South Korea two weeks ago.
Speaking with Tumaini Weekly Mr. Melubo said his stay in South Korea was meaningful owing to the chance given to him to present a paper titled Ecotourism and the Livelihood among Livestock keepers of Ngorongoro.
The event took place from 16th to 18th November at Bexco Centum Hotel and Youngsan University in Bussan metropolitan city in South Korea. It marked made the 8th International joint world cultural Tourism.
In his views, Mr. Melubo said that what he has observed in Korea is that the country is in the cluster of Newly Industrialized world which is to say, its infrastructure development is better compared to Tanzania.
The conference was organized by the Youngsan University World Cultural Tourism Association, university of Hawaii in USA, as well as the Korea Academic Society of Cultural and Tourism.
On the other hand, he added that 2010 Tumaini University will have an opportunity to host the similar conference that happened in South Korea which is the best academic challenge ahead.
Responding on the question of the possibility of changing the course program from the current Cultural Anthropology and Tourism, he remarked, “The course content of the programme needs review but the title of the programme will remain the same.”
This is the challenge for Tanzanians especially IUCo to be proud to develop and promote their culture, values, norms and traditions. Moreover, this is the second time in 2007 for the tourism course to shine outside.
This is the second time for IUCo to air its celebrity. The first conference held on 20th until 25th May 2007 in Kampala Uganda at the 4th International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT) African conference.
During the last time in such a conference three students from Tourism department in the college were awarded for their excellent performance in article writing which was presented by their lecturer Mr. Melubo Kokel.
The forum brought together 300 participants from four continents which were Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe.
